About Us

The Orchard Equestrian Centre and Equine College is a well-established and respected provider of equestrian education, riding tuition, and alternative provision. We deliver high-quality training and care across all aspects of horse management, serving a wide range of learners from recreational riders to diploma students.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Stable Yard Assistant to join our professional and hardworking team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where the care of horses and the education of students are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for horses and ponies, including mucking out, feeding, grooming, and turning in/out

  • Assist with tacking up and preparing horses for lessons and practical training sessions

  • Maintain high standards of yard hygiene, safety, and organisation

  • Support instructors and staff during riding lessons and college activities

  • Supervise and support students, volunteers, and visitors on the yard as required

  • Monitor horse health and behaviour and report concerns promptly

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience working with horses in a yard setting

  • Confident and competent handling horses of various temperaments and sizes

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent time management and communication skills

  • Physically fit and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Desirable:

  • BHS Stage 1 or above (or equivalent)

  • Safeguarding and First Aid training (or willingness to undertake training)

  • Experience working with young people or within an educational environment

About the Role:

The Orchard Equine College is seeking a skilled and motivated Administrator to support the smooth running of our alternative education and equine training programmes. This is a key role within a growing organisation that combines education, wellbeing, and equestrianism to deliver high-quality provision for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing student records, registers, and admissions documentation

  • Coordinating timetables, bookings, and day-to-day administrative tasks

  • Communicating professionally with parents, schools, and referring agencies

  • Maintaining learner files, progress logs, and assessment records

  • Supporting delivery of accredited qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds Horse Care)

  • Assisting with compliance, safeguarding documentation, and other paperwork

  • Managing social media platforms and producing basic marketing content

  • Supporting internal communications and general office administration

Candidate Requirements:

  • -Proven experience in administration (preferably in education or similar sector)

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills

  • Competence in social media management and basic marketing tools

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)

  • Two professional references

Hours: 18 per week (flexible schedule)

Pay Rate: £14.50–£20 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)

The Orchard Equine College & Equestrian Centre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Equine Coach and Assessor to join our professional training team. We are committed to delivering high-quality vocational education in equine care, riding, and stable management, helping learners to develop confidence, competence, and industry-recognised qualifications within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging practical and theoretical training in riding, stable management, and equine care up to Level 3.
• Conduct learner assessments in line with awarding body requirements, maintaining accurate records and providing constructive feedback.
• Support learners in achieving their individual goals, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promote safe, effective, and welfare-focused working practices across all learning environments.
• Liaise with internal quality assurers (IQAs) and colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality standards of delivery and assessment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship (or equivalent).
• Assessor qualification (TAQA / CAVA / A1 or equivalent).
• Strong communication, organisational, and coaching skills.
• Experience of working with young people or learners with additional needs.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of welfare, safety, and learner support.

Desirable:
• Level 4 teaching or coaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, DET, Cert Ed).
• Experience of working within a college or training provider environment.
