Course Structure

Learners work through a series of units that contribute towards the full City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma.

Progression Opportunities
Completing the Level 1 Diploma in Horse Care opens the door to a variety of further education and training pathways within the equine industry. Learners will be well-prepared to continue building their skills, confidence and knowledge.
After Level 1, learners can progress to:
Level 2 Technical Qualification in Horse Care

Entry Requirements
Learners must meet the following entry requirements to join the Level 1 Diploma in Horse Care:
Age Requirements
Minimum age: 14 years or 12 years if progressing from The Orchard Reins & Roots Journey
Suitability
A genuine interest in horses and practical learning
Willingness to work safely around horses
Ability to follow instructions and participate in both practical and theory tasks
Clothing & Footwear
Learners must come prepared with:
A correctly fitted riding helmet (to current standards)
Long trousers or jodhpurs
Strong, supportive boots with a small heel
Weather-appropriate clothing
Experience
No previous horse experience is required - beginners are welcome.
Learners just need a positive attitude and readiness to learn.
