Through a carefully designed approach, Nurture & Nature integrates emotional development, wellbeing and practical responsibility within a calm, nature-based environment.
It underpins our Alternative Provision and supports progression into vocational pathways and future independence.
What Makes Nurture & Nature Different
Nurture & Nature is not a collection of animal-based activities, it is a structured, curriculum-led development model.
Developed exclusively by The Orchard, it combines animal-assisted learning with a clearly sequenced progression framework, designed to support learners who require an alternative to traditional education.
The model integrates emotional development, wellbeing, practical responsibility and functional learning within a calm, nature-based environment.
Delivered through meaningful interaction with animals, structured routines and reflective practice, the programme creates sustained, measurable and purposeful development.
Each phase builds intentionally upon the last, enabling learners to move from supported engagement to confidence, independence and readiness for future pathways.
How It Is Delivered
Nurture & Nature is delivered 1–3 days per week within a calm, nature-based environment, providing a structured and consistent setting for learning.
Each session follows a carefully designed format that integrates:
Practical animal care and daily routines
Structured personal development themes
Clear expectations, boundaries and responsibility
Guided reflection, review and discussion
Goal-setting and ongoing progress tracking
Learning is embedded through meaningful interaction with animals, routine and real responsibility, enabling learners to develop skills in context.
This ensures that learning is transferable, supporting progression into education, employment and independent life.
